Our forestry professionals take a hands-on approach to all aspects of timber harvest operations. Beginning with efficient harvest layout and design, our foresters need a thorough understanding of the often complex environmental protection and harvesting regulations. It is also important that we maintain professional working relationships with the local permitting authorities. Access design and construction, and selection of the appropriate harvesting technology are judgments that our experienced personnel are well prepared to make.
In the U.S. Pacific Northwest the terrain can be highly variable, ranging from steep mountains to flat valleys. This requires that we work with a variety of logging systems including ground systems such as shovel or skidder systems, mechanized harvest methods, and also complex cable/tower logging systems. In the Northeast selective harvesting systems include conventional chainsaw crews, as well as mechanized and-to-length operations. In all regions, we work with a variety of independent logging and hauling contracts, and we are experienced with the contracts and documentation required for a modern harvest operation.
